Celebrating our double achievement at the National Make UK Awards

February 17, 2026

Philtronics is proud to share the news of our outstanding performance at the Make UK National Manufacturing Awards 2025, where we secured two National Runner-up positions at the prestigious Gala Dinner held at Madame Tussauds in London on Thursday, 29 January 2026.

Following our double success at the Wales Regional Awards in November 2025, where we were named winners in Developing Future Talent and SME of the Region, we were honoured to represent Wales on the national stage. Competing against the UK's leading manufacturers, this recognition highlights the strength of our team and our commitment to excellence in contract electronics manufacturing.

National Achievements

  • Runner-up: Developing Future Talent
  • Runner-up: SME of the Year

These awards underscore Philtronics' dedication to nurturing talent, fostering innovation, and delivering outstanding results in a highly competitive sector. The judging panel provided insightful feedback that reflects our core values and achievements:

  • For Developing Future Talent: "This company has transformed electronics manufacturing education by creating an engaging, hands-on experience for its staff and college learners."
  • For SME of the Year: "An innovative manufacturer with a big heart—supporting community and environment... impressive record for customer satisfaction through service, process excellence and product development... inspiring, engaging and community-minded."

These commendations celebrate our multi-faceted approach to talent development through the Philtronics Academy, partnerships with local colleges and the University of South Wales, and initiatives that bridge academic theory with real-world industry application. Our focus on hands-on training, apprenticeships, and continuous professional growth has empowered our team to thrive and contribute to the future of UK manufacturing.

The Gala Dinner itself was an inspiring celebration of the sector's best, hosted by Make UK and featuring standout performances from apprentices representing major organisations including Bentley Motors, Siemens Healthineers, Airbus, BAE Systems, Nissan, and Safran. Witnessing the confidence and pride of these young talents reinforced our resolve to invest further in our own apprentices, ensuring they are equipped with the skills, self-belief, and opportunities to excel on regional and national platforms in the years ahead.

We extend our congratulations to the winners in our categories and to our fellow Welsh company, Airbond Splicers, who claimed victory in the Energy and Sustainability category, demonstrating the vitality and innovation of Welsh manufacturing on the national stage.

Special thanks go to:

  • Our CFO, Anne Pritchard & CTO, Simon Street, for their meticulous preparation and delivery during the Developing Future Talent interview, incorporating videos, testimonials, and interactive elements that showcased our educational initiatives.
  • Simon Pritchard, who represented our SME story with passion and clarity, highlighting our journey, niche expertise, customer focus, sustainable growth, and deep community ties.
  • The distinguished judging panel for their time and expertise: Pavel Albores-Barajas (Professor of Operations & Supply Chain at Aston University), Liz McArdle (Innovation Manager, University of Warwick), Dr. David Clegg (Sheffield Hallam University), and Nigel Platt (Robotics Industry Specialist).
  • Make UK for organising an exceptional event, and host Nikki Dean for her engaging presentation.

These two national runner-up awards now take pride of place in our Philtronics Academy, serving as enduring symbols of our progress and as powerful motivators to continue pushing boundaries. While we celebrate this significant milestone, achieved against strong national competition, we remain driven by a culture of continuous improvement and ambition to achieve even greater heights.

At Philtronics, we are committed to:

  • Investing in our people through training and development
  • Driving innovation in electronics manufacturing
  • Championing sustainability and community engagement
  • Strengthening manufacturing in Wales and across the United Kingdom

We thank our entire team, partners, customers, and supporters for making this achievement possible. Here's to building on this momentum and pursuing further excellence in the years ahead.
